The two disciplines have a long history of connection. According to The Art Institute of Chicago, the relationship between science and art dates back to the Egyptian pyramids. And in ancient Greece, the word for art was techne, the root of technique and technology — terms that apply to scientific and artistic practices.
On Thursday, April 23, science and art overlapped again as St. Anne School in Santa Monica, Calif., held its annual Science Fair and Art Show. Every student in first through eighth grade, over 200 overall, presented a science and art project. Topics included the animal kingdom, electricity, solar system, human body and more.
